ART
At Meridian Angel Primary School, we embrace art in all aspects of our learning. This inclusive way of expression allows our pupils to convey emotions, cultural backgrounds and diversity within our community. Our lessons are tailored in line with the national curriculum for Art and Design.
Aims

techniques
● evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of art, craft and design
● know about great artists, craft makers and designers, and understand the historical
and cultural development of their art forms

line, shape, form and space

EYFS
For children in the Early Years expressive arts and design is broken down into two aspects:
- Exploring and using media and materials
- Being imaginative
Children are given opportunities to experiment with media and materials finding out about their properties and modifying and manipulating them. It includes exploring sounds, patterns, movement and different tools and techniques.
At Meridian Angel, children opportunities are given the opportunities to explore, research and
replicate renowned artists locally and internationally across a range of art movements
throughout history. This enables our young artists to build upon the skills and knowledge gained each year. Children are encouraged to explore their identity within our inclusive school community and recognise individuality through art and creativity- their journey continues throughout their wider curriculum learning.
With a wealth of artistic background and academic achievement among the Meridian Angel staff we promote a culture of passion and appreciation for all forms of art. By showcasing all mediums of the children’s art through visual representation in floor books, sketch books and displays around the school we instill confidence that they can transfer into all aspects of their development.
