EQUALITY STATEMENT
MERIDIAN ANGEL PRIMARY SCHOOL
Meridian Angel Primary School is part of the LDBS Academies Trust.
As a public institution, the Trust publishes its Public Sector Equality Duty and Objectives on the Policies Page of the Trust website.
Equality Statement
Our school is committed to equality.
We try to ensure that everyone is treated fairly and has equality of opportunity. We also work to develop good relations between people from different groups. We recognise that in wider society, people are not always treated fairly, for example because of their: age; disability; gender; ethnicity, colour or national origin; religion or belief. We are committed to eliminating discrimination in all forms and upholding the British Values of tolerance and individual liberty.
Equality Duty
The Duty states that all public sector bodies (which includes all schools), in carrying out their work, need to ensure that they actively support the objectives of the Equality Act 2010. This ensures protection from discrimination, harassment and victimisation on the grounds of specific characteristics (referred to as protected characteristics). This means that schools cannot discriminate against pupils or treat them less favourably because of their sex (gender), race, disability, religion or belief, gender reassignment, sexual orientation or pregnancy or maternity.
To ensure transparency, and to assist in the performance of this Duty, we are also required by the Equality Act 2010 to publish:
(a) information and analysis of our school population, and
(b) equality objectives, at least every 4 years.
